Touhy, Cross on the Plains

Touhy, Cross on the Plains

The first burial recorded in St. Vitus Cemetery in Touhy was that of Cyril Carek on August 20, 1903. Touhy is a small town in the “Bohemian Alps,” a range of uplands which runs immediately south of the Platte river to the north of Lincoln. Approximately thirty miles north to south and fifteen miles east to west, other towns are Abie, Bruno, Brainard, Dwight, Linwood, Loma, Morse Bluff, Prague, Valparaiso, and Weston. It is said that the rolling country reminded the Czech settlers of their homeland.
